What to expect:
For every appointment at Salina Ortho PT, you will be seen one-on-one by a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. On your first visit, your physical therapist will evaluate your condition and identify the source of your pain and dysfunction. Your physical therapy initial evaluation will include a thorough examination of muscle, nerve, tendon, ligament, bone, and body tissues/organs as they pertain to your physical complaints or limitations.
After your evaluation, your therapist will develop a treatment program based on the results and your goals. Physical therapy treatment may include the use of manual therapy techniques, exercise, neuromuscular re-education, habit changes and any other appropriate corrections. Therapeutic modalities may be used to decrease swelling, decrease pain and/or soothe injured muscles. Each patient will be started on a home exercise program that may include: education on proper body mechanics, posture to prevent re-injury, exercise instruction, cold/heat therapies and general self-care. Your therapist will plan, implement, and monitor your progress throughout the treatment program, with YOUR goals in mind.
